Las Vegas NASCAR
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the first completely new super speedway built in the southwest region of the United States in more than 20 years. Las Vegas Motor Speedway's first NASCAR event was in 1996 with the Craftsman Truck Series season finale.
A new attendance record for a Nevada athletic event was established the week of Feb. 25-March 1, 1998, when an estimated 250,000 fans attended The Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a great deal of auto racing activities.
Not only does The Speedway have a stock car track, but one of the most complete racing complexes in the world. The 1,600 acres include road courses, a three-eighths mile oval, a dirt track and a state-of-the-art drag racing facility.
Las Vegas Motor Speedways wide racing surface allows drivers to get very aggressive on their line through turns banked at 12 degrees. The frontstretch trioval, which runs 2,275 feet, is banked at 9 degrees. The 1,572-foot-long backstretch is banked three degrees.
The UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 (NASCAR Nextel Cup Series) will be run on March 12, 2006 along with the Sam's Town 300 (NASCAR Busch Series) the day before(SAT). These two races pack them in, and I mean pack them in.
There is only one way in and one way out of this complex, so be prepared for a long trip home after the race. With this being the case, stay in a time share and leave the drive home for all the rest.
Don't forget there is more to Las Vegas than just losing money in the casinos, place a bet on your favorite driver and see what happens. A day at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will help you forget the casinos, and remember all the fun you had at the NASCAR races
